The Canada Ukraine Research Team (CURT) was established in September 2003 between Canada's Grant MacEwan Community College and the University of Alberta's Department of Educational Psychology, and Ukraine's Institute of Special Pedagogy of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences.

CURT's primary goal is to improve the education of special needs students in Ukraine through joint research, exchange of information and faculty, and implementation of special projects.

Since its inception, Canadian member organizations have had an ongoing and successful relationship with partners in Ukraine wherein they support and facilitate the development of educational practices and research.
